BUYING GUIDE

Build a power budget for the whole system.

Voltage identifies only one part of the electrical requirement. Use the exact equipment configuration and operating duty when planning the power supply.

01

Separate the electrical terms

Nominal voltage, operating range, electrical input and cooling output describe different things. A 24 V label does not establish the available current, the control interface or the heat removed from a cabin.

02

Identify every powered component

Include the compressor or drive, condenser fans, evaporator blowers, controls and any other installed electrical loads. Use model-specific running and protection requirements from the applicable documents.

03

Describe the energy source

Record the battery configuration or other DC source, charging arrangement and the energy available to HVAC after other loads. Main power and control power may be separate connections.

04

Define the operating sequence

State when cooling is required, when charging is available, and whether the system runs continuously or under temperature control. Engine-off duration must be reviewed against the actual load and battery operating limits.

05

Bring the right documents

Request the exact wiring diagram, controller/harness reference, operating limits and protection requirements. Cable, isolation and protective-device selection belong to the installation design.
